Instruction
In our grade 7 math, students are expected to discover math through:
- independent work
- partner games
- meeting with the teacher
- using technology
Our classes are a balance of teacher led whole group and small group instruction, along with student led centre based learning.
Curriculum
Students are assessed in three areas of mathematical thinking:
1. Knowledge and Understanding
2. Mental Math and Estimation
3. Problem Solving and Communication
The units that will be covered are : Decimals (+ - x /); Cartesian Plane; Fractions, Percents and Decimals; Patterns; Adding and Subtracting Integers; Geometry; Algebra; Adding and Subtracting Fractions; Mean, Median, Mode, Range and Average.

Here is also a copy of a reference sheet with formulas, vocabulary and a times table and is also available to download here. Students are encouraged to use it will grasping a new concept, but to rely on memory once the skill is mastered.
